Six members of our Club, ARob, IH, TF, SP, CS & PF, ventured into the Luss Hills, via Glen Douglas, completing the Tullich Hills Horsehoe, thus claiming the Fionas: Tullich Hill, NN 29351 00640, and Beinn Bhreac, NN 32124 00049, with Ben Reoch, NN 30794 02119, in between them on the ridge. With light winds and minimal (high) cloud the weather was set fair.

There didn’t seem to be much snow around when viewing Tullich Hill from the Invergroin car park. Lying snow was encountered from about 400m and was up to 30cm deep in places on North faces. A couple in front of us had turned back after Tullich Hill in view of the extent of the snow but FVMC persevered.

Two of the group posing on Tullich Hill and contemplating the stiff climb to Ben Reoch. Navigation was generally straightforward in clear weather, though challenging on the NE ridge descent of Tullich Hill due to large rocky drops. Warm sunshine and a very steep ascent on the West side of Ben Reoch saw several layers of clothing disappear into rucksacks.

Looking NW they caught sight of The Cobbler, NN 25932 05812, with Beinn Narnain, NN 27168 06668, off to the right. On the descent from Ben Reoch the exposed bealach forced a re-clothing for the ascent of Beinn Bhreac.

…on the ascent of Beinn Bhreac - clearly been some challenging weather on days preceding their arrival.

Continuing the fence work with Beinn Reoch behind them.

Final Pitch to the summit of Beinn Bhreac, at 683m the highest point of the day.

A grand day out. They expected no lasting damage to have occurred in crossing a couple of mid-height barbed wire fences. Deer fences were otherwise thoughtfully provided with stiles (though not necessarily in the right places). Wildlife spots were minimal: lizard, frogspawn and hare tracks, but views were terrific all round, including Ben Lomond, seemingly close enough to touch.
