TF led a day walk in the Ochils from Dollar Glen, attended by 6 additional walkers (ARob, CS, BR, SP, AM, JMcC), including two prospective new members. It was a wet day from the beginning until almost the end, but that didn’t stop the group from taking on a nearly 6 hour walk, covering 15 km and almost 900 m of ascent. A simple day walk for  a complicated time of year, weather wise. A half day would suffice. SP and ARob ascended Beinn Each on the east side of Loch Lubnaig near Callander.  The out and back ascent of the Corbett via Glen Ample and Beinn Each’s west ridge was straight forward and both members were happy that the forecasted harsh weather did not make an appearance. A few snow drifts and some ice made the ascent interesting along with occasional views of Loch Lubnaig. Route map.

There was excellent attendance at the annual dinner meet. Several groups walked on Saturday and Sunday. Twenty-five adults (and one bairn!) took part in a lovely dinner at The Green Inn in Ballater on the Saturday night. Most of us were staying at Ballater Hostel, which made for very comfortable lodging. There was some good snow overnight, as you’ll see from the white-capped hills featured in Sunday’s snaps.
