Eleven intrepid hikers attended this meet to celebrate the 50 years that FVMC members have been enjoying the hills. The team started out at the parking area on the southwest side of Gladhouse Reservoir in the Moorfoot Hills, south of the Pendlands.

Group 1 - GB, PF, TF, IH, JI, IM, BR, AS and JW completed the circuit comprising Blackhope Scar, Bowbeat Hill and Dundreich (with some creative shortcuts by a couple of members). The circuit of about 18 km took us past the ruins of Hireandean Castle, across some hummocky terrain onto a gravel road servicing a wind farm. The weather was largely cooperative, with only a few minor showers on a day with a patchy forecast.

Group 2 - MMcL and CS opted for an alternative walk around Gladhouse Reservoir.  They enjoyed spotting various flora and fauna en route, adding to the interest. It was a bit blustery, but overall the weather stayed clear allowing good views across the reservoir.

Overall, a fine day out with excellent company!
