Weekend Meet: Alex MacIntyre Hut, Onich, October 16-18, 2026
Seven members (AS, ARog, CS, GM, MMon, SP, TF) were treated to an entire weekend of sunshine and low wind, making for an exceptional meet.
On the way to the meet (Friday October 16th), MMon climbed Munros Sgòrr Dhearg and Sgòrr Dhònuill (Beinn a' Bheithir), while GM & ARog climbed the Corbett Beinn Trillaechan in Glen Etive.
Saturday October 17th
Group 1 – GM, SP, TF, MMon - Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean (Munros) from Kinlochleven
We deviated from the path to take a “short cut” up the steep slope of Binnein Mor, although not sure it saved us any time. We took Walk Highland’s suggested decent off Na Gruagaichean. Views throughout the day were incredible. (1300 m elevation gain, ~13 km, about 7.5 hours)

Group 2 – CS, ARog, AS – Fraochidh (Corbett)
We started from Duror, on paths through the forest. We were treated to fabulous views of Ardgour and later over to Aonach Eagach. Interesting and well-constructed cairn, too!

Sunday October 18th
Group 1 – SP, TF - Sgur na Ulaidh (Munro)
Although Walk Highlands lumps this hill in with the nearby Corbett, after a full day of walking yesterday, this hill was more than enough for us on its own (1200 m elevation gain, ~14 km, about 7 hours out)

Group 2 – CS, AS - Beinn na Stroine (Fiona)
This duo made a steep, short ascent of Beinn na Sroine. We enjoyed the sunshine and a fabulous 360 panorama on the summit. We resorted to the map to identify some of the nearby summits seen from this angle.

Group 3 – ARog, MMon, GM - Creach Bhien (Corbett)
