7 FVMC Members enjoyed a lovely weekend in the Lakes, based at Patterdale. While the weather was a bit patchy, we managed to get out for some excellent walking and visits to the local pubs.
Day 1 – Saturday, September 13th
Group 1 - AR, SP and TF hiked to Helvellyn from the hut via Striding Edge, returning via Swirral Edge and Catstye Cam. Weather was unsettled with sunshine in morning a intermittant showers in the afternoon, but visibility was generally good. We got back to the hut (and out to the pub, 10 minutes down the road) before the heavy rain started. Round trip was ~6 hours (13 km, ~900 m ascent).

Group 2 - MMcE, PF, BR and AS hiked to Nethermost Pike + High Crag, Dollywagon Pike, returning via Grisedale Tarn and following Grisedale valley. AS and BR returned early due to illness.

Day 2 – Sunday, September 14th
Despite a patchy forecast, we were treated to a clear, dry morning.
Group 1 - MMcE, PF, BR took the steamboat to Howtown, walking along the shore back to Glenridding.

Group 2 - SP and TF hiked up to Angle Tarn, passing by an impressive group of runners tackling the Lake District Mountain Trial.
