The poor snow levels in Scotland this year provided BR with a very welcome April return to Norway, joining a DNT guided tour through the Jotunheimen. Surprisingly the Norwegians said that conditions were really poor for snow depth...well if you call this poor they should see Bonny Scotland - where the snow report is best described as 'heather on a firm base'! The huts visited were; Fondsbu, Gjendebu, Olavsbu, Spiterstullen, Glitterheim and Gjendesheim. The Jotunheimen is a very mountainous area which provides many satisfying climbs and descents, both short and long, with suitable levels of terror!

Gjendebu, our first stop having started from Fondsbu.

On our way to the Spiterstullen hut, having past Kyrkja (The Church).

In the background, Galdhøpiggen, tallest in Norway and N.Europe at 2,469m.

To Glittertinden's top...climbing skins didn't work - hence carrying skis.

The top of Glittertinden, second highest mountain in Norway at 2,465m.
