Given that there was no Weekend Meet in October it had been arranged to have three Day Walks to make up for it. This was the first; An Caisteal, NN 37874 19369 and Beinn a Chroin, NN 38762 18591 from Glen Falloch, NN 36877 23890. The route taken was in line with that described in www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/an-caisteal.shtml.

Just after the start of the route, looking SE along the track adjacent to the River Falloch.

A steep start from the track.

Some interesting fungi along the way.

The view across to Ben More and Stob Binnein on the horizon.

Closer to the summit.

At the summit with ARob, EA, AS, BR, GB and MMcE taking the pic.

Looking across An Caisteal’s southern ridge to Beinn a Chroin.

This gives a better view of the ascent options; although the ground ahead indicated a possible zig-zag route up through the crags the actual route took us around the corner to the right of centre pic, via Beinn a Chroin’s SE crags, which involved a wee scramble over a short section.

Looking back toward An Caisteal from Beinn a Chroin’s SE crags.

All aboard the train to the top.

An Caisteal in the background from the top of Beinn a Chroin.

The way back, to the left of River Falloch, through muddy terrain.

A kind couple took a pic of the entire group.

The small dam heralding the start of the track leading back to the road…a welcome change to the previous muddy terrain.
