For a number of years now we have started the New Year early in the first week of January by going on a short, sociable walk from Dollar Glen heading up NNE over Hilfoot Hill, NE over Commonedge Hill then ESE to Seamab Hill from where we descend SE to Pool of Muckhart for some lunch, followed a walk along the road back to the cars. There were about eleven folk on the walk and all had a good time. https://consumerplatform.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/20475297/240102--fvmc-new-years-walk?lat=56.185395&lon=-3.653933&zoom=13.5650&style=Leisure&type=2d

Taken just after the star of the walk, the view to the SW of Castle Campbell.

Further up the route we look back again and see it swathed in mist and not a spec of snow to be seen on the 2nd of January 2024!

This picture reminds us that we can get snow in the Ochils, taken on 10/01/16 at the top of Ben Cleuch about 9km to the west.

CE & BR at the top of Seamab Hill…the others, largely attracted by the thought of a drink, had powered on ahead.

On a clearer day, a pic was taken on 02/01/17, showing the descent from Seamab Hill to Pool of Muckhart.

Lunch gets underway at The Inn at Muckhart, www.theinnatmuckhart.com. A fine start to the year and a traditional walk that is well worth attending.
