On Saturday the 4th of November a Day Walk was planned by ARob, AS & BR to visit the Fiona Mealna Letter/Duchray Hill, NO 16082 67261, and Loch Beanie, NO 16056 68665, taking an anticlockwise route, starting from the entrance to the forest at NO 14955 64452, see; https://consumerplatform.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/19478813/231004--fvmc-day-walk-meall-na-letter--duchray-hill?lat=56.783896&lon=-3.410670&zoom=12.9846&style=Leisure&type=2d

The day started misty and so offered no real photo opportunities until reaching the top of Mealna Letter/Duchray Hill, from which we can see Mount Blair, NO 16739 62970.

BR, the one who is constantly irritated at the length of modern jackets, and ARob prepare to head off to the cairn after lunch stop at the wall.

The cairn is only a few paces NW of the top. In the distance on the right is the entrance to Glen Lochsie, NO 07506 72037, and The Spittal of Glenshee.

To illustrate what their hill looks like from a distance, see this pic taken earlier on 26/05/23 from the slopes of Creagan Caise, NO 18014 68634, and shows the view to the SW featuring Mealna Letter/Duchray Hill.

Looking over Loch Beanie with Craigenloch Hill, NO 16649 69951, above it, centre, with Monamenach, NO 17610 70706, behind it to the right.

Later BR discovers a puddle…

…but it turns out to be the eastern shore of Loch Beanie.

Having left the shores of Loch Beanie the boys head west enjoying a fine view of Glen Lochsie to the NW.

Just before they reach the car, Dalnaglar Castle, NO 14593 64738, a deluxe Heiland hideaway. A grand easy day out covering 11.6km and 425m of ascent.
