Unusually there were two Day Walks planned for May, with the first taking place on 07/05/23. The ultimate objective was Stob Ghabhar, NN 23021 45514, via the first Munro Top, Stob a Bhruaitch Leith, NN 20869 45973, then onto the second Sron a Ghearrain, NN 22127 45680.

Four people took part, leaving the car par south of Victoria Bridge, NN 27054 41887, heading from Forest Lodge walking west to Clashgour Farm then up an old hill track, NN 23321 42664. This is AS’s pic of MM, EP & BR taking a wee rest after their pull up the slope from the hill track, before heading onto Bealach Coire Laoghan, between the two Munro Tops.

This is AS walking towards the second Munro Top, Sron a Ghearrain, with the first ascended Munro Top, Stob a Bhruaitch Leith, immediately behind him. In the distance, centre pic is Bidean nam Bian, NN 14364 54271 and Ben Nevis on the right, NN 16680 71294.

From Sron a Ghearrain looking WSW over Meall nan Eun, NN 19232 44951, to Stob Coir an Albannaich, NN 16934 44345 and Ben Starav, NN 12549 42745 behind.

Finally onto Stob Ghabhar, with Clach Leathad, NN 24051 49376, second row left, Rannoch Moore centre, NN 32354 50448 and Munro Stob a Choire Odhair, NN 25725 46010, off centre.

The long steepish descent of Stob Ghabhar’s SE ridge lying to the west of Coire na Muic.

Taken from just north of Clashgour Hut, NN 25532 42817, looking back at the descent route from Stob Ghabhar.

The short walk back to the car with Beinn an Dothaidh, NN 32715 40980 and Beinn Dorain, NN 32590 37926, lying there enjoying the sun.
