At last our club makes a welcome return to The Naismith Hut at Elphin, run by the Scottish Mountaineering Club Scottish Mountaineering Club (smc.org.uk). It was a great success with a good number of hills climbed including Craig Rainich, Meall Horn, Quinag, Stac Polly, Canisp and Beinn Leoid. and a walk from Lochinver to Elphin.

MMcE does a solo ascent on Saturday 14/05 of Creag Rainich, NH 09649 75151, near the Fannichs. Above is the breezy start at Loch a' Bhraoin.

Devil’s matchsticks on the way.

The summit cairn of Creag Rainich with An Teallach behind.

Also on Saturday, GB, GG, CS, Harry The Dog & AS climbed Meall Horn, NC 35242 44915, the weather clearing after a damp start.

A view of Ben Stack from the top.

…and a final look at Arkle on the way oot, from the track SW of Lone.

On Sunday 15/05 MMcE & GB, headed to Corbett Beinn Leoid, NC 32031 29477. A gorgeous day. Easy climb up near invisible stalkers path onto first ridge. Above is Beinn Leoid (right), Meallan a' Chuail (left) from top of stalkers path.

Quinag from summit.

Loch Shin from summit.

Also on Sunday MM & AS walked from Naismith Hut to Canisp, NC 20307 18757, and back in nine hours, covering 24k and 700m of ascent. Not a route they will be repeating any time soon! Above is the NE side of Cul Mor, as seen from the SE slope of Canisp.

Mr AS featured here…having full knowledge that it’s not that pointy thing on the left that beckons but the tiresome slope on the right!

And from the top of Canisp that pointy thing called Suilven.
