The club spent a fine weekend at an old favourite cottage of ours called Milehouse (NH839043) run by the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club. As often the case, such locations can be used not only for treks to local mountains such as the Cairngorms but also as starting points for heading further north. Here are some of our members’ tales.

On Saturday 17/08, PB drove NW to Struy for to climb the Corbett Beinn a Bha'ach Ard (NH 36149 43550) and the following day drove 2 hours to Stathan at West end of Loch Arkaig to climb another remote Corbett Carn Mor (NM 90304 90937). Above is a view of Glen Dessary on the high route to Carn Mor, looking across the glen to another Corbett, Sgùrr Cos na Breachd-laoidh.

A view of Strathan at the west end of Loch Arkaig. Moreover, wet and windy with not much of a view, but satisfyingly completed.

Also on the Saturday of that weekend CS, MMcE & Harry the Dog completed the round of Ben Macdui (NN 98900 98947), Beinn Mheadhoin (NJ 02457 01680) and Cairngorm (NJ 00561 04003). Above shows going up the Goat track, looking east into Coire an Lochan.

On Sunday CS, MMcL, MMcE & Harry the Dog went up Corbett Geal charn Mor (NH 83671 12327) from Lynwilg, near Aviemore. Amazing views despite the very strong wind. Above is looking south to Loch Alvie and Cairngorms from Burma road.
