18-20/10/24 Weekend Meet: Strawberry Cottage for some, for others Badandun Hill!

The October weekend meet was set for Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric, a location run by the An Teallach Mountaineering Club, https://www.anteallachmountaineeringclub.com/.  The forecast looked grim, prompting 4 of the 6 intended participants to decide not to go but to do a short climb of Badandun Hill, NO 20772 67912, on the Sunday instead. However the remaining 2 members braved the weather at Glen Affric and managed to get out on the hills from their weather beaten cottage!

First up ARob gets a Corbett done before going to Strawberry Cottage, here we see him lunching on the Corbett An Sìthean, NH 17108 45403, at the NW end of Glen Strathfarrar.

On Friday18/10/24, MM gets Munros Toll Creagach, NH 19426 28278 (pictured) and Tom a’ Choinnich, NH 16378 27347, from the cottage.

Due the high winds MM & ARob had to settle for the ascent of Creag Dubh, NH 22504 21662, on the route out from the cottage… the hammer on the post has no explanation!

For the others who choose not to go to the cottage they decided to head to Glen Isla and the Fiona Badandun Hill, NO 20755 67886, in rather benign weather! Having started from the road at a parking area at NO 18756 64499, they headed NE up the track to the top of the hill. Pic shows the view looking south from halfway up the track to Auchintaple Loch.

The boys check the map to ensure that they are on the path they came up on! Centre left shows a fine view of Mount Blair, NO 16736 6297, to the south. A good day out despite it being short at 3:00hrs.
