A wet and very windy start to the weekend in Torridon did not stop MMcE and GH from taking a scenic route to Mol Mor in the dark on Friday night.

Saturday:

High winds ruled out the Torridon Munros. DY, LY, MM and AS headed for the good Corbett Beinn Damh which was windy enough for us. We followed the good path up through the woodland from the road. The weather was fairly good at this point. Libby turned back just before we ascended to the ridge between Meall Gorm and Toll Ban as it became apparent that the wind was going to increase considerably as we ascended. It did!

Our progress along the ridge was frequently halted by gusts that we could not walk against.

After being pinned down for a while by a prolonged gust DY decided to go back and meet up DY, AS and MM continued and made it to the summits of Spidean Coire an Laoigh and Spidean Toll nam Biast. By this time the wind had abated slightly (we were able to stand up). On the way back Malcolm went via Sgurr na Bana-Mhoraire and met up with Allan again for a welcome pint at Annat before returning to Mol Mor.

GB and MMcE went Corbett hunting and climbed Sgurr Dubh together. MMcE (quite sensibly decided that one hill would suffice but GB could not be persuaded to lower levels and headed of for Sgurr and Lochain Uaine (he never knows when to call it quits. Marian shot a nice wee video of a lochan acting like a washing machine, churning round and creating quite a spectacle.

JI and GH struggled to within metres of the summit of Beinn Eighe but were beaten back by the wind. It was bad enough at Corbett level. It must have been ridiculous at Munro height!

Sunday dawned dreich and dreary (familiar refrain). After procrastinating and dawdling, AS and MN headed south and did a three-hour circuit around tracks at Loch and Eilean (Rothiemurchus) in better weather. Visited Drake's bothy in the Inshriach forest. A tidy wee doss. MMcE and GH did a low level walk and coffee stop on the way home.

The others have not admitted to doing anything bar heading home. Probably visited a coffee shop for sustenance. It's an age thing. Used to be the pub, now its coffee!

Torridon from the Beinn Bean approach.
