I’m just back from a XC skiing trip to the Rondane National Park in Norway.
I went with two friends of mine, BD, GF and Norwegian ski guide AT who is a long time friend of BD and GF
How shall I describe it?
- 7 x nights spent in self-serviced huts and 8 x days o' skiing.
- Light winds that were generally from the south.
- Temperature at a cool minus 10 to 0 deg C, but nearer 0 deg C most of the time.
- Blue Extra grip wax doing it's stuff under the planks giving good traction.
- Visibility: 25% near white out, 65% mist, 10% sunny intervals (the last 10km!).
- Route via undulating terrain and mountain valleys of the RNP (160km/100mile).
...the only disappointing thing was the lack of visibility - but a far better experience, with the odd exception, than that offered by the poor weather we've been having in Scotland!

Our guide AT, then BD & GF huddled behind a snow wall...unfortunately most of the trip was in Norwegian mist!

Fixing a frying pan's swivelling handle in one of the huts.
