Bright sunshine greeted four FVMC members at Elgol for the 40 minute boat trip into the Glasgow JMCS hut beneath the Cuillin.
First surprise was the lack of running water at the hut courtesy of the drought conditions prevailing - hard to believe about Skye! No flushing the loo either!
Saturday dawned a bit grey but dry although overnight rain had dampened the rocks.
Consensus was for an ascent of the classic Dubhs ridge. Some greasy, holdless steps in the gabbro were a wee bit exciting but we made Sgurr Dubh Beag in good time.
After casting about a bit, Malcolm and Archie located the abseil bypass path and we headed on up the increasingly exposed terrain to the summit of Sgurr Dubh Mor which gave good views of the Cuillin ridge.
Some tricky down climbing took us to Sgurr Dubh an Da Beinn then onward under Casteal a Garbh Coire towards Sgurr nan Eag where we (ie Malcolm) lost the path.
He and a rather weary Paul headed down as Archie and Allan searched for and found the way ahead to Sgurr nan Eag as the weather turned overcast.
They returned to Garbh Coire and made the tiresome and slow descend back to Coruisk and the hut after 11 hours out.
