From Wobbly Legs to Wild Heights & Why You Should Join Our Hiking Club

I’ll be honest: when I joined the Forth Valley Mountaineering Club, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I imagined gentle strolls, a few scenic selfies, and maybe a sandwich break at the top. Fast-forward to now, and I’ve found myself clinging to clumps of dirt on steep ridges, soaked from surprise downpours, and laughing through muscle aches I never knew I could have. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
What started as a spontaneous decision has turned into a full-blown passion. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a total newbie, this club gives you more than just a reason to get outside it gives you a real sense of community.
One of the best things about joining was the support. Nobody cares if you’re the slowest in the group or if you pant like a steam train (trust me, I’ve tested this). We look out for each other, celebrate every summit, and even share snacks which, let’s be honest, is crucial.
It’s not just about the fitness (though your legs will thank you), it’s about the mental boost too. There’s something deeply healing about being in nature, about breathing in crisp air and seeing views that knock the wind out of you in the best way.
If you’re nervous, good! That means you’re about to do something brave. I started off terrified of going solo or holding people back. Now I’m dragging my friends into doing Ben Nevis and plotting my next adventure.
So if you've been sitting on the fence, take the leap. Sign up, lace up, and come along. Let the hills humble you, the people uplift you, and the journey transform you.
See you on the trail! 🥾✨
