The Friday night before their hike, JB caught this evening view whilst sitting outside the Oyster Inn in Connel, an encouraging start to their weekend.

ree

At the start of their tour, looking WSW onto School House Ridge on the left of Sgorr Bhàn, NN 06274 56062, just above tree.

ree

Now heading up the NE ridge of Sgorr Bhan from Beinn Bhan, towards Schoolhouse Ridge, whilst looking NE back to Ballachulish in the foreground and on the right the Pap of Glencoe, NN 12541 59454.

ree

Having traversed the top of Sgorr Bhan they head WSW to see the 1st of the Monros Sgorr Dhearg…weather now a bit cloudy.

ree

Looking NE back up to Sgorr Bhan and a fine view of the western end of Glencoe centre pic.

ree

Looking west we capture the group having a bite before the ascent of Sgorr Dhearg (peak on the right)…centre of the group is none other than their mascot, Lady.

ree

Almost at the top of Sgorr Dhearg, looking back towards Sgorr Bhàn and the Pap of Glencoe just above it in the distance, Loch Leven on the left and Glencoe level with JB’s head.

ree

The top of Sgorr Dhearg with the view still holding and the welcome prospect of setting up camp in dry weather at the bealach.

ree

They set up camp in a fine spot between Sgorr Dhearg and Sgorr Dhonuill. Looking north we can see South Ballachulish down Gleann à Chaolais.

ree

As they had made camp it was a nice easy ascent of Sgorr Dhonuill, just as the weather rolled in.

ree

,,,back at their camp a relaxing night lies ahead.

ree

The following day they packed up and headed north down from the ridge, penetrating the forest to pick up the tracks back to Ballachulish. A great weekend covering 15.4km and 173m of ascent.

ree

Next up, on 15/09/23, PB set off on another solo trip by driving to Kinloch Hourn, NG 95315 07032. Leaving the car at the back of 3.00pm he followed a track and excellent stalkers path up Buidhe Beinn, NG 96330 09047, and camped at 800m, just below first top, by 18:15hr. Pic shows his room with a view towards Ladhar Bheinn, NG 82398 03994.

ree

Sunset over Skye.

ree

After a fairly pleasant night he Left the tent 08:45hr and made the summit 09:20hr, returning to the tent for a leisurely breakfast.

ree

On the way down another view of Loch Hourn and Ladhar Bheinn.

ree

…he got back to the car by 12:40hr and drove home by 17.45hr – but not without proof that Heilan Coos exist!

ree
