The month of May featured a 3 x day cycle trip for FVMC member MMcE and friend LW along the Rob Roy Way and a classic walk on Beinn Dorainn and Beinn an Dothaidh for HP.

First up on 11/05, MMcE & LW start their cycle along the Rob Roy Way, going from Drymen to Pitlochry, split into 3 x days. MMcE takes a pic of LW making the horses ready for the first stage of their Rob Roy Way trip; Drymen to Callander via Aberfoyle.

Soon they were off the road and onto the forest track.

They came across some hidden features of the Victorian water system.

Views across the golf course to Dumgoyne in the south.

Down the hill to the eastern end of Loch Venachar looking west towards Ben Venue, centre pic, followed by an easy run along a quiet road (mostly) into Callander.

Day 2 of the Rob Roy Way, and onto familiar territory…Callander to Killin. Pic shows the Bridge over the River Teith at Callander.

A pause at Bohcastle roman Fort site.

A Roman army of Bluebells.

On the ‘modern’ section of the Edenchip Viaduct.

A grand view looking east along Loch Earn.

Onto the impressive former railway Viaduct in Glen Ogle with the public road on the right.

Down to Killin with Ben Lawers and the Tarmachan Ridge on the horizon.

Another bridge on the old railway line in Killin, this time over River Lochay.

…where has all the water gone - bare rock at the Falls of Dochart in Killin where they stayed the night.

Day 3 of the Rob Roy Way. Killin to Aberfeldy. They had hoped to make it to Pitlochry, but since there was a shortage of accommodation due to the Caledonian etape they decided to make Aberfeldy their end point. Pic shows the early morning views starting out on the South Loch Tay Road from Killin.

Ben Lawers over the Loch.

View up Loch Tay.

View west down Loch with Ben More and Stob Binnien in the far distance.

The push uphill in the hot sunshine from Acharn was a challenge!

Bike park at the Hermits Cave.

Looking North to Schiehallion.

Looking down on Aberfeldy where they had decided to finish…all they need to do now is plan to do the last bit from Aberfeldy to Pitlochry later in the year!

Next up on 12/05, with the forecast predicting temperatures soaring to 24C in the West Highlands in the afternoon HP set of at 06:00hr for Bridge of Orchy to climb the Munros Beinn Dorainn, NN 32553 37870 and Beinn an Dothaidh, NN 33173 40889, before it got too hot. Pic shows the view looking south towards Beinn Dorainn from Coire an Dothaidh

Looking west on way to Beinn Dorainn. Lochan doesn't have a name

HP on Beinn Dorainn. Not often can we sit on the top of a Munro with just T shirt!

Looking towards Beinn an Dothaidh from the south.
