A couple of notable visits to the hills this month; discovering a military relic on Sheriff Muir used for D-Day preparations, see https://canmore.org.uk/.../145650/sheriff-muir-atlantic-wall and a solo trip to the remote Corbett Meall na Meoig of the Beinn Pharlagain group.

First up, on 10/11/23, BR, IH, JW and his pal IM investigate the Atlantic Wall on Sherrif Muir. Pic taken from the parked cars on the road, NN 83614 03739, looking SE towards the dark strip of the Atlantic Wall, NN 83783 03665.

At the wall’s southern tip.

On top of the wall, looking NE, with the anti-tank ditch to the left.

Quite a bit of target practice had left much damage.

The northern bunker, NN 83813 03763.

IH thought that BR was intending to move in…

…too damp for BR.

Heading to the southern bunker they find a track that may have been part of the tramway used to facilitate construction.

At the southern bunker, NN 83594 03474, its broken apertures facing the road.

After their investigations they headed SE, to the saddle between Glentye Hill and Mickle Corum, reaching the top of Mickle Corum to witness some fine views. Pic shows BR taking a pic of IM & JW at the cairn with the Ben Lawers group, draped in snow, on the horizon.

Looking NW to Stuc a Chroin and Ben Vorlich centre pic. They returned to the cars by a similar route, completing an unusual but interesting day on The Ochils.

Next Up, ARob had a wee day out 12/11/23 to remote Corbett Meall na Meoig, NN 44767 64208, of the Beinn Pharlagain group. Great visibility but a cold easterly kept him moving. Deer still rutting and lots of Pheasants. Pic featuring L to R: S Ridge of Carn Dearg, Coire Eighach and Beinn Pharlagain (the higher summit, Meall na Meoig, lies further to the north).

Afternoon shot looking W over Rannoch Station and the West Highland Railway Line.

Ben Alder to the NW.

Meall na Meoig has a wee cairn but with a big view! Pic shows the scene to the west featuring the Blackwater Reservoir and above it the hills of Glencoe. A fine day out.
