Weekend Meet: 12-13 July, 2025 – Mill Cottage, Kincraig

Summary: Ten FVMC members braved the 30 degree weather under a blazing Scottish sun (!), taking in a range of hills in the Cairngorms.
Day 1: There were five different groups out on Saturday 12th
MMon & AS: Sgor Gaoith (Munro) with Munro top (Sgoran Dubh Mor), descending W and returning S along the road back to the start point at Auchlean car park in Glen Feshie.

VD, SP & TF: Ben Macdui and Cairn Gorm (2 Munros) via Twin Ribs and Fiacaill ridge. Descended from Cairngorm by down road from Ptarmigan station – post Irn Bru stop off.

MMcE: Binnein Shios (Graham) from Laggan road, starting at car park near Moy Lodge, next to river Spean. Ascended ~SW of Binnein Shios returning along double track next to Lochan nah Earba. The klegs were not put off by the heat.

DY & LY: Enjoyed some lower-level walks, and some nice coffee/cake in Kingussie!
Day 2: There were three different groups out on Sunday 13th
MMcE – Creag Liath (Graham) from Glen Banchor, Newtonmore. Westerly double track from car park then north following the Allt Fionndrigh. Descended SSW via subsidiary top and forest at Corie an Eich. Spotted fallow deer on return.

SP, TF, MM, VD and AS: A’Bhuidheanach Bheag (Munro) from layby 88 on the A9, next to Dalwhinnie junction. The double track was taken pt 902 m, then turning S to gain the summit. Return via outward route.

IH: Meallach Mhor (Corbett) in Glen Tromie, near Kingussie, starting from RSPB Insh Marshes car park and cycling just past Lynaberak Lodge, then ascending the hill via Meallach Bheag to Meallach Mhor, returning via outward route.
