For the October meet the club booked the Scottish Mountaineering Club's hut at Lagangarbh in Glencoe.
This trip was well attended with a last-minute pick up in numbers which saw nine members in attendance despite a gloomy weather forecast.
The River Coupall was running high when we crossed the bridge to the hut in darkness on the Friday evening and the rain continued all night. Plans were quickly re-assessed on the Saturday morning as there was little sign of good weather.
After some procrastination, six members opted to climb up the Devil's Staircase and head west over Stob Mhic Martuin and the succeeding tops to Am Bodach (weather permitting).
Perseverance paid off as the rain ceased and the breeze picked up. That helped break up the cloud and with spirits rising along with the cloud, westwards we went. Descent was via Coire an Ruigh back to the road. Four members returned eastwards via the old road with two opting for the faster main road verge (not recommended).
All agreed that they had salvaged a god day out from an unpromising start (the walk took a wee bit longer than anticipated though).
Another two members drove to Kinlochleven and walked up to the Blackwater Dam. The sole remaining attendee decided to take his dodgy knee for a wander up Beinn a Chrulaiste.
Sunday was pretty dismal but a trio of members went for a ramble to the Bracklinn Falls above Callander on the way home.
